How to Transfer Old Camcorder Footage to a Computer.

In this video, I teach you how to transfer Sony Hi8 film to your laptop. After researching different options, I used an AV out cable with a FireWire cable and FireWire to USB-C. It’s important to have a full camera battery and to connect the AV out cable to the camera, making sure to rewind the film all the way to the end.

I use QuickTime player to record both audio and video and note that the process may take some time depending on the length of the film. It’s important to have a full battery because if the camera dies out half way though the QuickTime recording stops and you will have to begin from the start.

Once the film is on my laptop, I suggest using editing software like Premiere Pro to enhance its look. This tutorial is for Mac users only, but I believe QuickTime is also for PC.
